Our Story

The Oakleys

My name is Peter. I am a retired Community Psychiatric Nurse. I live with my wife Lesley, a retired Intensive Care Nurse, my daughter and three grandchildren. We welcome you into our home (the younger family members live ‘next door’ through a connected family lounge). Our bed and breakfast rooms are found up a separate staircase. We have a separate guest lounge & dining room. Guests have use of the family swimming pool, hot tub and saunas and are welcome to roam the gardens, children’s play area and land along the river. We follow a mainly vegan diet although we do eat eggs from our rescue hens and ducks who free-range in the day around the fields guarded closely by our two alpacas. There are many cats who live around the out buildings and we have two family labradors called Henri and Maggie.

American-style Hot Tub

Soak away stress and tension

Sited outside the pool room in a secluded area of the rear gardens. 5-seater hot tub, up to 40 degrees heat, LED mood lights, splashing fountain, 4 x high power pump system with 61 hydrotherapy jets and two lounger seats, overlooking graveled seating area, natural woodland and stream.

Infrared and Traditional Saunas

Infrared sauna

This sauna is equipped with a simple yet advanced digital control system, a Bluetooth audio system, LED chromotherapy lighting and an aromatherapy system. Nine infrared Mica heaters work to ensure that heat is distributed quickly, evenly and efficiently to help achieve the maximum benefits of a full-body sauna treatment while keeping energy costs low.
This sauna is made from natural Canadian hemlock wood by the Canadian Spa Company Saunas, which are designed to exceed all required safety standards and maintain competitively low levels of EMF.
We also have a traditional sauna with a beautiful HUUM sauna heater from Estonia. Unwind and relax in either dry or wet heat depending on how much water you sprinkle on the hot volcanic stones.

Heated Indoor Pool

Enjoy a relaxing swim

Unwind and relax by the indoor heated pool 13m x 5m set at 28 degrees. Steps for easy access at the shallow end (1m) and a traditional ladder exit at the deep end (1.8m). Chlorine, UV light & sand filters are used to keep the warm water sparkling clear, clean and sanitized.
The pool facilities are currently utilised as a Swim School and unavailable to guests Monday-Thursday between 12:00 noon - 19:30pm.
